In this five part Ableton Live tutorial we will be learning methods on how to create a performance file from scratch. From tracking out your arrangements, to midi mapped macros and dummy clips, you will learn some great techniques on how to take your performance file to the next level. Hopefully you will be able to take these new skills and apply them in your own unique way to achieve your dream performance file with great organization and versatility.
Video 1 - Introduction (01:48)
In this video introduction we go over some of the things that will be covered in the video series. You'll hear and see examples of the performance file that will be made over the course of the next five sections.
Video 2 - Track Out Your Songs (10:32)
This video covers how to track out your songs to be eventually playable in the live performance file. You will learn how to export multiple stems at once as loop-able audio clips.
Video 3 - Performance Template (13:06)
In this section we will begin to build our performance template. We start by dropping in our exported stems and will organize them into scenes and clips.
Video 4 - Effect Racks (11:54)
We will go over how to build effects racks within our performance file. You will learn how to use macro knobs to map multiple effects parameters to one single knob within Live.
Video 5 - MIDI Controller (12:30)
This video overviews how to plug in and get started with your midi controller. You will learn how to map your knobs and buttons to the macro's that we've created in the last session.
Video 6 - Dummy Clips (17:11)
The final video covers how to create dummy clips in Ableton Live. These are useful because they can automatically launch different effects and instrument racks that will change dynamically depending on which scene you are playing.
